Business and Human Rights Clinic Information Session

Friday, September 9, 2016

The Business & Human Rights Clinic is a year-long class that provides an opportunity for students to deepen their knowledge and experience of business and human rights.  Combining seminars, guest lectures, group work, and site visits, it is an interdisciplinary space for testing innovative models of business and human rights work, carried out in partnership with NGOs and other business and human rights practitioners.

The Clinic subject for 2016-2017 is investment chain mapping (ICM).  ICM is a cutting edge, highly technical skill  with strong career potential taught nowhere else.  Through direct contact with the client and its partners, the Clinic provides a unique opportunity for students to help pioneer and then put into practice an innovative and timely advocacy approach to holding transnational corporations and development finance institutions accountable for human rights harms. Past students traveled to and   presented their ICM work in Cambodia.

Eight to ten students will comprise the Clinic team and are required to enroll for both fall and spring semesters. Students will receive 3 credits per semester.  Taught by Prof. Joanne Bauer, the Clinic meets Fridays 11:00 - 1:50 PM.
