2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the Human Rights Advocates Program (HRAP). Since its inception in 1989, 319 advocates from 90 countries have attended the program. In honor of the 30th Anniversary, 25 advocates have written articles about best practices from their work over the years.

On July 18, 2019 in Mexico City, 2003 Advocate Lydia Alpizar of IM-Defensoras (left) and 2005 Advocate Alejandra Ancheita of ProDESC (right) presented a report on the situation facing women human rights defenders prepared for the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, Mr. Michel Forst.

ISHR presents the participants in the 2019 Human Rights Advocates Program (HRAP). HRAP is ISHR's flagship capacity building program. Since its inception in 1989, HRAP has build the capacity of 328 advocates from 90 countries through its intensive-semester-long program of graduate-level coursework, networking, skill-based workshops and faculty mentoring.
