The Institute for the Study of Human Rights seeks graduate or undergraduate students with excellent writing skills to contribute regularly to RightsViews, the ISHR’s blog. RightsViews provides opinion and research from students and faculty at Columbia University as well as the broader human rights community. RightsViews writers should have a demonstrated interest in human rights theory and practice. If selected, each writer will be expected to cover 1-2 human rights events per semester and contribute at least 1 original article for the blog.  Preference will be given to candidates who can commit to the position for at least one academic semester.


  • A current graduate or undergraduate student with a demonstrated interest in Human Rights
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Experience contributing to online media publications preferred
