The Institute for the Study of Human Rights is seeking to hire a part-time program assistant for the 2017 Human Rights Summer Program.

Job description: The Summer Program Assistant will work closely with and provide administrative support for the ISHR Summer Human Rights Program.
Candidates must be current Columbia University graduate students who are enrolled in classes full-time during the Spring 2017 term and are eligible to work in the United States. Individuals graduating in May 2017 are not eligible.
Responsibilities may include: responding to and managing faculty administrative requests; coordinating guest speakers; planning, organizing, and advertising extracurricular events and activities (including panel discussions, brown bags, site visits); and assisting in the preparation of a Summer Human Rights Program report. The Summer Program Assistant will also provide overall administrative support to the summer program, as needed. Strong organization, communication, and coordination skills required, as well as the ability to work well independently. Background in human rights is strongly preferred.
Approximate start date – May 17th
Approximate end date – August 18th
Hours per week: Average of 18-20 hours per week, but will vary.
Compensation: $3,340 total for the summer.
