2009: Japan regrets that Japan’s relationship with Canada was disrupted by World War II.

 In Ottawa, Emperor Akihito of Japan regrets that Japan’s relationship with Canada was disrupted by World War II.  He also says, “It saddens me that so many people experienced suffering and difficulties during the war.”
