Exodus from Afghanistan, One Year Later: Afghan Voices of Hope

Presentation and discussion with project director, Gaisu Yari, ISHR alumna (MA program) and former Appeals Board Commissioner, Independent Administrative Reform and Civil Service Commission, who was forced to leave Kabul in August 2021, and Prof Louis Bickford (moderator), founder of Memria.org. Join us to discuss Afghan Voices of Hope, a project of Memria.org, which seeks to strengthen Afghan diasporic civil society by building solidarity and connecting people through shared experience. As refugees of the 2021 exodus navigate life outside of Afghanistan, the project helps to build shared identity in hopes that they will continue working together in building Afghanistan's democratic future. In the past year, the project has collected, transcribed, and cataloged hundreds of stories from displaced Afghans living in exile across the globe.
