Research and Project Assistant - U.S. Racial Redress

Job Description: ISHR is looking for a research and project assistant. This project explores explicit micro-redress efforts to further our understanding of the development and implementation of U.S. policies and their justice potential. The assistant will work with the project manager to assure a sound data management system and adherence to research standards. There is a significant amount of existing data for the initial analysis. This project may include direct communication with participants located throughout the U.S. All data will be uploaded to excel. This project is seeking grant funds. Therefore, excellent writing skills and grant writing experience is favored. Assistant will maintain bi-weekly updates to the project leader. Other tasks relevant to this project may develop as the project progresses. Responsibilities may include: data collection (in-person and web-based), data entry, data management, basic statistical analyses, assistance with grant writing and submissions, review of technology applications for accuracy.  
 
Hours: 10-15 hours per week
 
Start date: As soon as possible
 
End date: June 2020  
 
Preferred Qualifications:  Proficient Microsoft excel, Microsoft office. Database management. Excellent writing skills. Report and grant writing experience. Experience with NVivo and/or geobatch preferred. Focus or interest in African American U.S. history preferred. Team player. Work-study eligible strongly preferred.
