You are invited to apply for the 2023 Human Rights Thesis Competition to take place virtually on Tuesday, April 25 from 3 - 4:30pm ET. The event will feature a group of UHRP and HRSMA students, selected by the department, who have completed outstanding research in the human rights discipline. These students will deliver compelling, 5-minute presentations pertaining to their thesis topics.

As part of the Grupo de Trabajo de Agenda CEDAW in Costa Rica, 2021-22 Advocate Larissa Arroyo Navarrete recently coordinated and presented the platform’s shadow report at the 84th session of CEDAW in Geneva in February. Larissa shared: “The Committee mentioned in the final observations to Costa Rica almost all the issues that we raised. I cannot tell you how happy I am and the impact that this will have over the years. All the learning [in the Human Rights Advocates Program] on advocacy, communications, funding, etc. was definitely put to use!

2005 Advocate Alejandra Ancheita of Mexico is one of the 25 lawyers who contributed reflections from their work on the frontlines to the book “The Revolution Will Not Be Litigated”. Ancheita said: “We share inspiration for the way movements can use the law–and must sometimes break it–to achieve justice.”
