This summer, Columbia College student Zina Precht-Rodriguez participated in an eight-week international internship program sponsored by Columbia University’s Institute for the Study of Human Rights (ISHR). Her research interests include climate policy and intergenerational justice.

Congratulations to 2014 graduate Saranya Misra, who was recently appointed as Communications Officer at UNICEF New York’s Division of Communications.

Misra graduated from Columbia University with a Master’s Degree in Human Rights Studies in May 2014. Her thesis focused on Political Activism through Social Media, including a comparative analysis of the topic across the Middle East and North Africa, South Asia, and China.

ISHR instructor Inga Winkler co-authored an article in the International Journal of Human Rights on inequalities in the Sustainable Development Agenda. The article, titled Leaving no one behind? Persistent inequalities in the SDGs, examines how disaggregating data can be used to monitor inequalities affecting marginalized groups associated with particular group identities protected by human rights law that are not receiving sufficient attention.
