Thami Ngwenya holds an LLM and BA in Political Science from the University of Durban-Westville in South Africa. In his dissertation, he explored the African Charter as a mechanism of promotion of human rights, particularly with regard to the establishment of democratic governance in Africa. He has worked as a parliamentary researcher, voting officer, and most recently, as the Program Manager for the Africa Governance Program at the Center for Public Participation in South Africa. His projects are related to education for social change based on art. Mr. Ngwenya has also authored several papers on topics such as participatory democracy and decentralization, socio-economic rights, and gender and development.
