This is a remote volunteer opportunity.
The Indigenous Peoples Rights International (IPRI) is a legally registered, non-profit global Indigenous Peoples organization that works to protect Indigenous Peoples’ rights and unity and amplify the call for justice for victims of criminalization and impunity. We recognize the long-standing concerns over the disproportionate representation of Indigenous peoples in incarceration.
Our organization works to:
- Respond to reduce and prevent violence against and criminalization of Indigenous peoples.
- Secure the safety of Indigenous individuals and communities under threat.
- Increase Awareness globally by leading and coordinating campaigns to address violence and criminalization of Indigenous peoples.
Volunteer Responsibilities
In close cooperation with Sandra Creamer, Chairperson of IPRI, and Raymond de Chavez, Chief Operations Officer, the student volunteer will be involved in:
Research
The regular gathering of data for the database and data analysis. The student shall work closely with the Communications and Advocacy Coordinators in relation to developing advocacy and communication materials based on research outputs. The student will also work closely with the ICT Specialist in relation to updating the data portal and using the data for developing advocacy strategies and materials.
As well as work with IPRI on climate change issues and the human rights of Indigenous peoples.
We are looking for someone with lived experience with Indigenous issues or someone with knowledge in Asia, Africa, or South America with preference given to those who know local languages.

The organizations will make the final decisions which will be announced by the end of May.
