    This is an in-person volunteer opportunity.

    Ishtar MSM—a community-based organization that advances sexual health rights of Men who have sex with Men (MSM) to reduce the stigma and discrimination associated with them by creating awareness to advocate for their rights to access health care, including STI/HIV and AIDS-related care and treatment. Ishtar MSM is a group member of the Gay & Lesbian Coalition of Kenya (GALCK). Ishtar envisions MSM, TG, and other sexual gender minorities in Kenya living a healthy, dignified, and gratifying life.

    Volunteer Responsibilities 
    1. Review Data collection tools and M&E plan 
    2. Support in Developing the M&E framework 
    3. Support Developing Research Ideas and Advocacy agenda 
    4. Work on reports and policy reviews
    5. Work with the team in outreaches and support supervision 
    6. Help in Documenting the best practices 
    Required skills:
    • The person should have Public Health Knowledge, Research, and Monitoring and Evaluation. Will help the organization develop reports and policy papers.
    Housing
    While the organization cannot provide housing, it will work with the student to identify a place to stay.

Please indicate the organization(s) that you are interested in working with, the relevance of this work to your studies and how your qualifications relate to each opportunity you are applying for. If you apply for more than one opportunity, please indicate in your cover letter your first and second choices. Applications will then be sent to the hosting organizations, which will request interviews with those students who they feel are the right match. The organizations will make the final decisions which will be announced by the end of May.
