    This volunteer opportunity can be either in-person or remote.

    Mountain Spirit (MS) is a non-profit organization registered in 1996 under the laws of Nepal. It was initially formed by a group of like-minded people from different mountain communities. MS is committed to empowering and facilitating the mountain women and indigenous communities in environment and culture conservation, resource mobilization, and sustainable development initiatives.

    Moreover, it also advocates for social justice, human rights, and environmental conservation by supporting indigenous mountain communities. Being a member-based organization, the strength and spirit of this organization lie in its members. MS consists of more than one hundred members representing 14 mountain districts and some hilly districts of Nepal. Member holds diverse expertise in the issues related to environment conservation, indigenous peoples (IPs), women's rights, eco-tourism, gender sensitization, health, education, community-based planning, and entrepreneurship development.

     

    Volunteer Responsibilities:

    As a summer intern, you will be working to support the documentation-related works of Mountain Spirit. Your supervisor will be Ms. Chhing Lamu Sherpa on behalf of Mountain Spirit. 

    • Proof Reading and editing of articles of members
    • Design publication
    • Arranged issues-based talk program
    • Help the team to prepare a simple proposal
    Housing
    While the organization is not able to provide housing, it will work with the student to identify a place to stay.

Please indicate the organization(s) that you are interested in working with, the relevance of this work to your studies and how your qualifications relate to each opportunity you are applying for. If you apply for more than one opportunity, please indicate in your cover letter your first and second choices. Applications will then be sent to the hosting organizations, which will request interviews with those students who they feel are the right match. The organizations will make the final decisions which will be announced by the end of May.
