Human rights students at the Institute for the Study of Human Rights (ISHR) gathered on September 21st over pizza for the Human Rights Internship Panel where those fresh from their summer internships talked about their biggest take-aways from summer of 2017.

This summer, Columbia College student Zina Precht-Rodriguez participated in an eight-week international internship program sponsored by Columbia University’s Institute for the Study of Human Rights (ISHR). Her research interests include climate policy and intergenerational justice.

Senior Researcher and Director of the Business and Human Rights Program Joanne Bauer published an article in the Business and Human Rights Journal in August 2017 discussing her methods for deepening students knowledge and experience in business and human rights through a year-long multi-disciplinary clinic that prepares them for the complex challenges of the field.

ISHR instructor Inga Winkler co-authored an article in the International Journal of Human Rights on inequalities in the Sustainable Development Agenda. The article, titled Leaving no one behind? Persistent inequalities in the SDGs, examines how disaggregating data can be used to monitor inequalities affecting marginalized groups associated with particular group identities protected by human rights law that are not receiving sufficient attention.
